Your Tree Seeds Guide

Here in the UK, we desperately need to plant more trees. But not just any trees. We need native species that will thrive in our climate.

Tree seeds come in all shapes and sizes. From the winged seeds of a sycamore tree to the pip of an apple. These little seeds contain everything a tree needs to germinate and grow into a new tree.

But each seed takes a different journey to germination. Some are much more complicated than others. For instance, Holly can need to lie dormant in the earth through two winters before it will start to grow.

For Plantober, we collect and plant nut tree seeds as these are some of the easiest seeds to grow. These include oak, beech, walnut, horse chestnut, sweet chestnut, and hazel.
